Achieving carbon neutrality with voluntary carbon certificates

Most companies are contributing to the environment by calculating and reducing their carbon footprint, and operating with renewable energy.
However, full carbon neutrality requires offsetting residual emissions in a verifiable manner. For this purpose, companies committed to carbon neutrality are investing in Voluntary Carbon Certificates (VCS), to certify the reduction of their carbon footprint. Each certificate is equivalent to one ton of CO2 emission.

The Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) is a global standard for the validation and verification of voluntary carbon emission reductions. Emissions reductions from VCS projects have to be real, measurable, permanent, additional, unique, transparent, and third party verified. Assessed against the background of the total volume of emission reductions, VCS is the globally leading standard for voluntary carbon offsets.

Offset your emissions with a world class renewable project

Project

The Manantiales Behr Wind Farm is located in Patagonia, Argentina. It operates under IDB Standards and has an installed capacity of 99 MW, with a capacity factor of 62% one of the highest in the world. Manantiales Behr offers 250,00 Emissions Reduction Certificates per year under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS).

Company

YPF Luz, a dynamic and innovative power generation company based in Argentina.

Impact

By displacing fossil fuel generated electricity with renewable electricity, Manantiales Behr is lowering GHG emissions and supporting climate mitigation efforts. Locally, the project boosted the economy by creating employment in the construction and operational phases and spreading technological know how.
